2003 web edition

Is there a reason why the SQL 2000 installer would not be running on 2003 Web
edition?
Yes, as it is a limitation of Web Edition that you can not run SQL Server
(and the other Server platform products) on it.
You need to install SQL Server on Windows 2003 Standard or higher editions.

What is the limitation? Is there no adminpack that can correct this?
Its like having a linux apache server that cannot run MySQL or pgsql.
To correct his I will cause downtime for my users, which is not what I want
to do.
Why didn't the installer tell me that I cannot install it?

The SQL database's only job in this case is to serve data to IIS.
Notepad.exe does not serve web. I dont know what quantifiable extent I should
take this up on this list with but I strongly disagree with the limitation of
SQL server. There is no hosting company that I know of who do not offer SQL
database tables. It is not you who I should complain to.

The limitation is in Web Edition. It's one reason Web Edition is cheaper
than other versions of 2003.
It's intential as far as I can tell.
