2nd POST-How to change color for a visited field?

Hello All,
I have a parameterized report (Report1), which has a field (say
'Control#')that has 'Jump to Report' navigation property setup. When the
user selects their parameters, Report1 displays, say 10 records displayed on
the Report, and when the user clicks on Control# of Report1, it Jumps to
Report2, which displays the details of that Control#. say from 10 records
displayed on Report1 the user cliked on the 5th record to get Report2. after
reviewing that Report, the user would like to go back to Report1. Here, I
want to change the font color of the 5th record Control#, as I have already
viewed it. By doing this, I would be able to make out, which records I
reviewed and which ones I did not. Is there any built in functionality in the
RS to do? Could please someone help me'
Greatly appreciated! There is no built-in feature in RS to magically display the visited field.
Instead, I would log the user visited fields history in the database using
the User!UserId. So, when the user navigates from Report1 to Report 2
(assuming that you pass Control# as parameter) I would base Report 2 on a
stored procedure which will log an entry for that user. Then, the user goes
back to Report 1 you will just need to link the dataset with the visited
history table using User!UserId. Of course, you need at some point to clear
the history, e.g by scheduling a job with the SQL Agent.

Hope this helps.

2005 tools

Hi all, I just finished installing SQL 2005 Enterprise on my server. Now
what tools can I install on my client Windows XP PC to manage and control
the server? With 2000, I could install Enterprise Manager & Query Analyzer
on my Windows XP machine. I dont see any such option now? My client PC
already has VS2005 installed. Can I use that? Essentially I am looking for
something that can give me all the functionality of Enterprise Manager +
Query Analyzer.
TIA!On Tue, 8 Nov 2005 09:16:51 -0600, <param@.community.nospam> wrote:

You are looking for "SQLServer management studio". And it has the
functionality of Enterprise manager + query analyzer combined, like you
ordered! I liked a lighter program like isqlw.

installation media. No problem installing along side of the VS 2005 RTM.
It is important that any VS and SQL Server beta/CTP builds be removed before
installing the RTM bits.

2005 Management Studio questions

Two things are bugging me:
1) The bug where you get an partial crash in the "Summary" window if
you do something the underlying ListView control doesn't like;
apparently it's an issue MS knows about but when will it be fixed? This
isn't supposed to be Beta anymore! Anybody know more about this? It's
some kind of invalid index error, I forget the actual message, but
those of you who run into it from time to time know the one I mean. The
environment keeps working, but the Summary pane remains empty until you
restart Management Studio.
2) I've noticed that in a lengthy session, the environment forgets to
color-code the keyword "VarChar" in blue, it just stays black. One
query window can still be displaying it correctly while other windows
aren't. I've done a search on this and found nothing.
Thanks for looking, BobI don't know if those specific problems are fixed, but have you
installed Service Pack 1 (SP1)? That would seem to be the place to
start.

2005 Datepicker control and dateformat

Hi, we have an installation of MSSQL reporting services where users
can select data based on date ranges. Since upgrading to 2005 we now
have a nice new Date picker control alongside textareas which accept
MSSQL datetime values.
This is all very nice but the date picker automatically formats the
date to US format mm/dd/yyyy. We need it to be in dd/mm/yyyy format.
I
have checked the regional settings of both the browser/ server etc.
Scouring the Internet seems to point that this is a post SP2 problem
but there seems to be no fix other than making the datefields a type
of nvarchar and then converting them to dates in the Stored
Procedure.
If there really is no fix, how can I just disable this date picker
control? In 2000 people just entered the dates manually, this was
fine
but know there is a date picker control people are obviously going to
use it.
Thanks

Aside from the workarounds you have attempted, that is also all I can
think of. If I understand you correctly, to remove the date time
picker in a specific report you would just select the Layout view ->
Report drop-down tab -> Report Parameters... and select the parameter
you want to remove the date time picker for and then change the Data
type: to something other than DateTime. Hope this helps.

Hi Enrique, thanks for your help. I have found a fix which seems to
work so I'm posting here to help anyone in the future who comes across
the problem.
In the folder where Reporting Services is installed fin a file called
ReportView.aspx
e.g.
c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Reporting Services
\ReportServer\Pages\ReportViewer.aspx
Open up this file and add the following to the Page Directive
Culture="en-AU"
This seemed to solve my problem

Very nice tidbit to know. So basically, that manually changed your
regional settings I guess.
