3 minute timeout

Hi all,
does anyone know of a 3 minute timeout in SQL 2000 or DNS server on windows
2000 AS.
What the problem is, is when our leased line to the internet goes down, SQL
server seems to close its port for 3 minutes & then all is well. We use a
product called freetds (on VMS) which uses tcpip:1433. I have hardcoded the
clustered server address so there *shouldnt* be any DNS lookup, but when I
try to connect (and our leased line is down), it waits 3 minutes and
connects. Any connected clients still work fine, and any PC clients who have
a specified server name continue to function OK. It just seems to take a
trip through the gateway & fail....
Any ideas?
DaveSQL Server does not have any timeouts of that sort. There might be
something at the network or OS level, try posting this question in one of
the Windows newsgroups.
