2005 tools
what tools can I install on my client Windows XP PC to manage and control
the server? With 2000, I could install Enterprise Manager & Query Analyzer
on my Windows XP machine. I dont see any such option now? My client PC
already has VS2005 installed. Can I use that? Essentially I am looking for
something that can give me all the functionality of Enterprise Manager +
Query Analyzer.

You are looking for "SQLServer management studio". And it has the
functionality of Enterprise manager + query analyzer combined, like you
ordered! I liked a lighter program like isqlw.

It is important that any VS and SQL Server beta/CTP builds be removed before
installing the RTM bits.

manage my sql server 2000 machines? If so, are there any thing I need to

There are no problems in managing a SQL2000 instance with SQL Server
Management Studio. If you use DTS packages though, you can't edit them
in SQL Server Management Studio but I think that's one of the only
limitations I can think of.

You can manage your 2000 servers using Management Studio, and you CAN
edit legacy DTS packages if you download the optional DTS designer for
Management Studio:

2005 Express - SPs read-only
TIA for any assistance on this,
John W. ColbyIf I understand your question properly, you are using a stored procedure to return a data set to a Microsoft Access form. If that is the case, then the result set is not updateable. In other words, you can't run a stored procedure, get some data, and then update that data on the screen and expect it to change in the database. You would need to code another stored procedure to take the updates and perform an UPDATE or INSERT statement back to the database from your Access form.
